Isaac

It has been a while since the last post, I have been keeping very busy and hope to get back to updating the blog more often.

This past week, I experienced my first hurricane as Isaac slowly washed over the area offering constant rain and strong winds. I spent most of this time helping out around the neighborhood clearing drains, meeting neighbors driven to their porch to escape the heat of their homes, and taking care of my house. I did not center on photographing Isaac, but rather personally experiencing it as I am sure there will be more. In many ways it is like a blizzard, but much more dangerous with the warm conditions. Beyond power outages New Orleans got off easy in comparison to the rest of the area. These images center around the Mid City neighborhood I live in.

Band of the Week (IV)

Over the summer, I am trying to shoot a band every week. This is Part 4 in the on going series.

Last week while in Chicago, I lucked out and was able to catch The Tillers show at Fitzgerald's. Al Scorch opened for them, which was also a great surprise during the quick visit.

Band(s) of the Week

With the slow summer season starting in New Orleans, I have set the goal of photographing a new band every week. Here are the images from the last three weeks.

Sidewalk Chalk!!

A few weeks ago, I was in Chicago to photograph a friends wedding. While there I was able to visit with friends and family. I was also thankfully able to pick up Sidewalk Chalk's album. I was excited to see the album since I had done the photography for it. Over the passed few weeks the album has made it onto the daily play list, when I am not listen to WWOZ. It is a super solid LP with a power full message and sound. I am proud to play apart in their path. It is an exciting beginning for a talented group of friends.

I hope one day they make it down to New Orleans.

Jazz Fest

This was my first time at Jazz Fest. I worked the second weekend of the festival as a volunteer shooter for WWOZ

Taking place at the New Orleans Fairgrounds the festival packs in the New Orleans music along with some national and international acts. The festival attracts people from all over.
